Send corrections or additions to Denise Escover. You must be a paid member to appear on this list and be listed in the directory.
  • Our next meeting is Tuesday May 14 at 7pm.

April Show Update
Steve wanted to thank Dana Klamecki who managed the show and everyone who helped out. The show was a big success and we couldn't have done it with out the support of our members.

Areas of concern were raised about the NSBA Futurity and rules. A suggestion was made that next year we should have a futurity committee well before the show starts to make things go smoother. The futurities were well attended but caused a lot of mess in the office because exhibitors didn't know which they were signed up for and what the rules were.

Diane Lang suggested the club purchase the futurity software from Paul Mullins to help keep things organized. She will look into how much this is. Other suggestions were made to get started earlier in the year with planning for the show.

Steve Guerriero suggested that we get some sponsorship for futurities next year to get more money in the pool to gain greater interest in the classes and have better payouts.

This year 7cphc tried a new program in the rules in that if you were too busy to work your hours for the show, you could pay money to waive your hours. Bob from CPHC hired a worker to work the show for those who paid into the waiver but the person they hired didn't show up for work.

Steve Guerriero suggested sending thank you notes to all our sponsors for the show.

New Business:
May 5th - Paint show Watsonville, CA Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds
Ed Flores gave the one day show report. We have scooters, buckles and crystal frames for high point awards. The flyers have been sent out and are posted on our website. The Gilbertsons will be the show secretary. We still need sponsorships and help for the show. Contact Ed or Libby Flores for more information. The youth team would like to do a raffle at the show. Someone asked if there would be vendors allowed, Ed stated the show grounds charges a $50 charge. Contact Ed Flores for more info. Ed will start a sign up sheet for the show to work hours.

Libby Flores announced the trail clinic being held Friday and Saturday May 3 and 4th. The Friday clinic location is tbd, the Saturday clinic location is at the Santa Cruz County Fair Grounds, same place as our show. Blane Nichols will be doing the clinic he is a world show judge.

Announcements:

  • The California youth team is issuing permanent back numbers as a fund raiser to help pay for their World Show stalls or help defray costs. Back numbers can be purchased for $25. $20 of that goes to the youth team. There is no cost or obligation to our club. All that is needed is our cooperation of our show secretary and enrollment of any of your club's members who wish to participate. All clubs should participate for the club to work. Our club just needs to give agreement for this program. Once Joe Manianci receives agreements from all the clubs, he will provide us permanent number application forms for our members to use. There was some discussion about this among the club. Some though it was a great idea, others weren't so sure. There is not really any participation needed from our club other than agreement that our show secretary can provide permanent numbers at future shows.
  • Western Regional Paint Horse Committee Zone 2 sent the club a letter asking for our support in sponsorships.
Please send all donations to the committee secretary by July 1st, 2002.

  • The zone committee also sent a letter requesting our response to an ongoing problem In holding meetings every year, they come up short of required number of directors that it takes to have a voting quorum for their committee. The by-laws state that they must have 2 from every state to make a quorum. They would like to change this rule to 1 director. The committee would like all the club presidents to reply on this matter as soon as possible. Our club felt this was a CCC issue and not a club issue and it should be brought up with the CCC. Our CCC reps said this was not brought before them at the last CCC meeting.

Debi Kent gave the CCC report, see the CCC minutes for details.

Meeting adjourned at 9pm.
