September 10, 2002 Meeting Minutes

Meeting was called to order at 7:08pm by president Steve Guerriero. 

Treasurer's Report was given by Denise Escover

CCC Program Balance:
CCC Checking $1710.93
CCC Savings $35,513.65

Open Program Balance:
Open Checking $670.97
Open Savings $5380.03

Meeting minutes were approved as emailed.

There were no new members or guests.

Bills: 
Tina Mcgurran submitted a bill for the gift basket in the amount of $50.45 for Ashley Kent. This was approved as submitted.

Old Business: 
CCC Report given by Libby Flores, for the August 24th CCC meeting. The year end CCC state awards banquet will be January 18th atthe Double Tree hotel in Orange County.

A to change the rule for 2003 to be one horse one rider for walk trot for the CCC state program. Seven Counties voted yes on this. This is not changing our program awards program, it is only for the state.

Sponsorships are available for the buckles in the award categories that are not sponsored by ccc. If you would like to sponsor an award, you need to get the money into Libby Flores by the November meeting before she goes to the last CCC meeting.

Open Show report: Debi Kent

Great turn out to the show, there were over 100 horses. $1140 profit on the last open show. We gave out the buckles for the series. Two buckles were sponsored by the reiners. We had a lot of good input from the judge. Everyone was happy with the judge. We have had very few problems with not enough help at the shows. We had a ton of help and we really appreciate it, we couldn’t have done it with out you.

Woodmyst has been great and gave us a great deal on these shows. Denise Escover would like to thank the club on Woodmyst’s behalf for helping to make the shows run smooth and keeping the grounds clean and in order.

Youth Club Report:

Ashely Guerriero gave a youth club report.

The youth club is going to donate money back towards the from the Heart Award. Four of the youth club members will be going to the AJPHA Leadership conference in Omaha NE will cost the club $300 each for 4 youths to the leadership conference. The club did vote on sending them and paying for their airfare. The youth club would like to make sure that it is ok with the club to pay for the youth airfare to go to the conference. This was voted on and approved by the adult club to pay for this.  

The youth club had their elections. They are also working with Melissa Berschens to build a web site for the youth club.

IMPORTANT INFO ON NEW APHA RULE PROPOSAL
Libby Flores and Kristi Abrams put together a petition letter to be signed and sent out to all the directors in the APHA to try and help stop the new no double register white rule. Kristi will email this to Melissa Berschens to email out to the club for distribution. It is suggested that everyone in the club help fight this new rule and turn in their signed letters including their APHA number and get them into all the directors listed on the letters by October 1, 2002.

POR Show Report;
The planning meeting that was scheduled for the September Rancho show has been canceled.

Year end award banquet:
Sharyn Fincher gave a report about the awards banquet. She checked into Mauretizo’s and he offered the same price as last year but we can only accommodate 80 people. We need to decide what we are doing for this event. The motion was made and approved to have this event at Marutzzio’s.

Libby Flores gave a report about Sharon Curtis from Patchwork Ranch has cancer and it has spread to her liver.  Libby suggested we send her a basket  or some flowers. A motion was made for a basket to be sent in the amount of $150. This was approved. Tina Mcgurran will send this out.

Secretary’s Report:

California Paint Horse Directory:
Melissa Berschens passed out a list of the club roster with all of our names and addresses, she asked for feedback to make sure they were all correct before they are sent to the state for inclusion in the California Paint Horse Directory. 

Attendance Records: Melissa Berschens passed out the attendance logs at the meeting and asked everyone to check them to make sure they have their five meetings in, there are two more meetings this year. 

Photographer report: Stampede Designs was contacted by Melissa Berschens, they have a new printer now which is better than before and are on the waiting list for a new laser printer. They also agreed to reprint the photo for the club member who was not satisfied with the print. Melissa suggested that they offer two kinds of prints and specify the difference so customers will be able to pick a ink jet print or a professional digital lab quality print. They agreed to add this to their pricing sheets and info.

Next Meeting: 
Open rules and CCC rules will be voted on at the next meeting. Copies will be available at the next meeting to review, they are also available on the website at .

Ann Curtis suggested that we get a gift certificate for  Kasha Ford for her generous donation for the colt raffle. A motion was made and approved to give Kasha a $100 gift certificate for her baby at a baby store.
